Longtime Painting Contractor Grew Up In Historic St. Elmo

Gary Lance Hasty, 80 of Rossville and a devoted St. Elmo fan, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday September 16, 2021.


Gary was a 1959 graduate of Chattanooga High School and attended Bible Baptist Church. He was an Alabama football fan and enjoyed playing board games with family and friends. Gary was a talented paint contractor for over 50 years having owned and operated Gary L. Hasty Painting Company. He was instrumental in the installation of the elevator at Rossville High School which benefited many of their students. Gary grew up in the St. Elmo community and as a young child he delivered groceries to local residents. He enjoyed sharing history and memories of growing up in the historic St. Elmo community. Gary became a Christian at the age of 12 and he loved the Lord. Anyone that knew Gary, knew that he was a hardworking, fun loving man who loved to joke and cherished his family.


Gary was preceded in death by his daughter, Terri Hasty; parents, John Hasty and Catherine Hasty; sisters, Barbara Hasty, Bobbie Light, and Joyce Thompson; and brother, Jackie Hasty.


Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Doris Hasty; sister, Beverly Bowman; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 21st, 2021 at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel. Interment will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, Rossville.
