Frances Chastain
Frances Wooden Chastain, 102, of Fort Oglethorpe, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
She was born to the late W.L. and Daisy Hays Wooden in Walker County, was a graduate of LaFayette High School, class of 1937, before working for Cabin Craft, Inc. in Dalton.
Frances has lived in the Fort Oglethorpe area since 1956 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lakeview and was part of the T.E.L. Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Drennon Arthur Chastain, sisters, Carrie Wooden, Bonnie Wooden, Hazel W. Graham and Kathleen W. Smith; brothers, Lester, Charles, Harold, and Fred Wooden and an infant brother.
Frances is survived by her loving son, Bert (Linda) Chastain; grandsons, Brian Chastain (Cindy Delgadillo) and Brad (Kasie) Chastain; great grandchildren, Olivia and Caroline; foster brother, Chester (Patsy) Hayes and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25, in the First Baptist Church of Lakeview, with Pastor Patrick Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Rock Spring Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home and the body will lie in state from 1 p.m. until the service at the church on Tuesday.
