How do you say thanks to so many people? Friday was one of the greatest days I have ever experienced. I can't print all of the names of the great Tyner multitude that gathered there to watch the Ram Train roll and greet one another after many long years.
I do want to mention the names of some folks that were very instrumental in building the future of Tyner High School starting in 1974. Harry J. Phillips, our principal; Bob Evans, (Mr. I built the stadium); and helpers, Bob Brown, Benny Eaves, Don McDade and Bill McKaig. I am sure there were others but these guys carried the load. These people, along with my coaches, Terry Parks, Kent Hampton, Mark Mowery and Jack Allison, made the Ram Train roll.
I did, in fact, hear the Ram Train horn Friday night, as I heard long ago, when the Norfolk Southern train rolled on the track while Rams rolled on the field.
I didn't recognize some of my past players. The reason being that they have grown into men. The last time I saw most of them was at their graduation, yeas ago.
I can't say how much this event, mostly assembled by James Beach, meant to me. Words can't describe how I feel.
In closing, I want to say, "GO RAMS, beat Decatur Riverside." Let the Ram Train roll!
Thanks to you all.
