Betty Akins Young
Betty Akins Young, 86, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2022, at her home.
She was born on June 9, 1936, in Chattanooga, to the late Maude and Wilson Akins. She was a member at Parkway Baptist Church. She had lived in Rossville for the past 62 years. Mrs. Young graduated from Kirkman High School. She retired from GMAC after 38 years of service. She and her husband John loved going to Daytona Beach and enjoyed square dancing. She was an active member of her community and loved her family dearly.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Chandler, Evelyn Sizemore and Willie Young.
She will be missed dearly by her loving husband of 67 years, John Young; children, Perry Young (Cheryl Grimes) and Rene (Ronnie) Smith; granddaughter, Jamie (Trey) Davis; great grandson, Benson Davis; sister, Patricia Townsend; several nieces, nephews and special caregiver, Leslie Carbine.
The family would like to thank Liz and Denise at Hearth Hospice for their care.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the funeral home chapel with Dr. David Sampson officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
