Jerry Summers
In one of the most serious “non-life-threatening” incidents in the Gig City, the understaffed law enforcement agency in our borough has attempted to stomp out crime in the pristine and beautiful East 10th Street thoroughfare area by issuing a citation to an individual for sitting on a log on private property. This demonstrates the type of vigorous crime control that the citizens of the community expect and need that sends a strong message to the criminal element that include drug dealers, prostitutes and gun fighters that are alleged to frequent the route in the homes away from home area.
However, several important questions remain!
1. Was the log damaged in any way?
2. Was the officer in a car, bicycle, or just enjoying a walk down the scenic thoroughfare seeing and smelling the garbage on the way?
3. Will the issuance of a citation be a deterrent to any other potential crime offenders that have evil intentions of also sitting on the log (or other logs)
4. Will the irate property owner back up their threat to seek imprisonment for the law breaker?
5. Does this offense fall within the category of being “tough on crime” in serious offenses by our new hard-charging D.A. as promised during their election campaign?
These and other questions must be aggressively answered, or the former “Dynamo of Dixie” will lose its rating as the 14th ranked worse municipality in the nation for violent crime as of May 31, 2021, by the Wallet Hub rating system, “which sells credit services.”
This heinous crime certainly fits within the category and reason that the “Scenic City” leaders imported the new Police Chief from violence free Hot Atlanta!
