Richard Wayne Roach, 81, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, left this world on December 21, 2022.

Born on March 7, 1941, and raised in Ooltewah, Richard was one of five brothers.

Richard served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963.

After the service, Richard met the love of his life, Patricia (Pat). They didn’t have much besides each other when they met, but they determined that’s all they needed. In 1963 Richard was born again and later served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Welcome Valley Baptist Church.

The two were wed on August 14, 1964 on Pat’s birthday, and as Richard would remind Pat every year on their anniversary she got the best birthday present available when she married him. They both agreed that they were equally blessed.

They started their family with a daughter first, Robin and then a son, Aaron.

Richard would go on to start and own several businesses where he achieved much success. A pillar in the business community, he was always honest and hardworking. Business was one of his great joys in life. He was a member of the Chattanooga Christian Businessmen’s Association and he developed several other business leaders with his influence.

Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, and just being in nature and watching God’s creation. He was a world champion skeet shooter and he and Pat traveled the country for competitions.

He enjoyed his life on this Earth and was ready to begin enjoying eternity with the Lord.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jimmy.

He is survived by wife of 58 years Patricia “Pat” Roach, Brothers Dennis, Dorman and Zane Roach, Daughter Robin Roach, son Aaron Roach (Michele), grandsons Austin Roach and Brett Lynn (Brooke), great-granddaughters Cora and Ember, several nieces and nephews including Gary and Terry who worked with Richard for many years, and lots of close friends and business associates.

The family has decided to agree with Richard’s request and forgo a service. They do ask that you keep them in your prayers.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Chattanooga Kidney Foundation at kidneyfoundation.com/contribute.
