East Brainerd And Ooltewah Collegedale Chamber Councils Announce Run For Their Future: Supporting Hamilton County Schools

  • Thursday, December 8, 2022

The East Brainerd and Ooltewah Collegedale Councils of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a 5k, 10k and jamboree to support Hamilton County Schools. The run starts on the Tennessee Riverwalk and finishes at Chattanooga State with a jamboree. The event date is set for March 25.

The race is titled Run for Their Future, coined from the quote, “We are working to ensure that all children thrive and experience a future without limits,” taken from the Hamilton County Department of Education website.

The Councils’ goal is raising $2,500 for 17 Hamilton County schools, totaling $42,500. Checks will be made out to the principals’ discretions to ensure the funds meet each school’s individual needs.

“The East Brainerd Council Board started discussing a race to support the schools in our footprint in July,” Amber Fortenberry, president, East Brainerd Council said. “We invited the Ooltewah Council to join us because our Council boundaries don’t always align with school zones. We have many East Brainerd children that attend schools in Ooltewah, and we want to ensure we are supporting all of them.”

“The Ooltewah Collegedale Council is excited to join the East Brainerd Council as we strive to make a meaningful difference for the schools in our footprints. This is going to be a great, worthwhile event,” said Walter Lindsay, president, Ooltewah Council said.

Funds will be raised through sponsorship opportunities offered to Chamber of Commerce members. The Councils hope to make this an annual event and potentially include more Councils in the future.
Additional race information to be released soon.
