Charles Saylor
Charles Edward Saylor Sr., 93, of Chattanooga went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 11, 2022, in Miramar Beach, Florida.
He was born on March 14, 1928, to the late Edgar Willis and Nannie Waddell Saylor. Charles served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired as a personnel director for Chattanooga Glass Company/Anchor Glass.
Charles graduated from Central High School in 1945 where he was an All-State Basketball player and from the University of Chattanooga. In 1991, Charles was inducted into the Chattanooga Old-Timers Club Sports Hall of Fame. He had a love for family, animals, the Tennessee Vols, all sports, poker and pool. His kind heart and special smile will be remembered always.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Marie Saylor, his sister, Jean Grimmig and his brother, Jim Saylor.
Charles is survived by his son, Charles E. “Chuck” (Myra) Saylor, Jr., daughters, Debra (Bill) Hensley, Robin (Mike) Baker, Grandchildren, Matt (Jenna) Hensley, Ben Hensley, Katie Hensley, Casey (Perry) Cox, Charlie Saylor, David Baker, Sarah Baker, great-grandchildren, Madi Hensley, Max Hensley, Addie Cox and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 25, at 12 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Manuel Perez officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
