Jimmie Lee “Clack” Coleman
Jimmie Lee “Clack” Coleman, 76, of Chattanooga, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, in the Hospice Care Center.
He was born in Chattanooga, on Dec. 2, 1945, to the union of the late Albert Franklin and Clara “Pansy” Perry Coleman, Sr.
He was preceded in death by his natural parents; his adopted parents, Alfred and Ethel Pruitt; sisters, Agnes Keith and Doris Ware; and brothers, Albert Coleman, Roy Smith, and James Smith.
Jimmie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of Bro. L. M. Jones at the East Third Street Church of Christ. He was that person that once you met him you would always remember him. He had a heart of gold and would do anything to help others. He attended Howard High School, where he trained as a brick mason and excelled in the statewide Trade and Industry competition. He held a variety of jobs through the years and was last employed at Gulas Restaurant.
Jimmie leaves to cherish his memories, five sisters, Terry Smith of Los Angeles, CA, Patricia (Percy) Shackleford, Ruth (Horace) Boykins, Barbara Jean (Sam) Shackleford, and Alphelia Pruitt-Chitty, all of Chattanooga; two brothers, Jerry Smith of Los Angeles, CA and Tommie (Janice) Pruitt of Chattanooga; aunt, Earline Perry of Chattanooga; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jimmie will lie in state on Friday, April 1, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 2, at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Brother John R. Taylor, Sr., as the eulogist.
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
