Steven “Steve” Albert Poole, 67, passed away at his home in St. Augustine, Florida, on February 25, 2022, after a long battle with cancer.

Steve is survived by his father, BimolPoole of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia; his wife of 45 years, Rosemary Poole; their two children: Ginny Chamlee (husband Will) and Andy Poole (wife Jennifer); eight grandchildren: Savanna Chamlee, Claire Chamlee, Olivia Chamlee, Ella Chamlee, Luke Chamlee, Ethan Poole, Finn Poole, and Reef Poole; Steve’s sisters: Kim Armstrong (husband Doug), Beth McDonald (husband Rodney) and Laura Parrish (husband Scott).

He was preceded in death by His mother, Virginia Goodman Poole and his stepmother, Barbara Ann Poole. 
 
Steve lived the majority of his childhood in Fort Oglethorpe, and attended Lakeview High School. Steve then accepted a football scholarship with the University of Tennessee, where he was a starting linebacker for the Volunteers from 1973 – 1975. Steve then went on to play for the New York Jets in 1976 before returning home to Chattanooga, Tennessee with his family. Steve was an entrepreneur and had several businesses in his lifetime. He had retired to St. Augustine, Fl., to be with his family before his passing. Those who knew him best would attest to his fun loving and adventurous spirit. His sense of humor and kind manner will be missed by his family and numerous friends.
 
Visitation and memorial for friends and family will be held at St. Gerard Catholic Church Hall at 3049 Lafayette Road, Fort Oglethorpe, on Saturday, March 12, from noon to 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Steve’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Tunnel to Towers.
