Having been involved in politics and government for more than 40 years, I find it stunning that there has been virtually no media coverage of what could be the single largest conflict of interest in the history of our county: a father (Bill Hullander) and his son (Matt Hullander) running for trustee and mayor, the two positions entrusted to oversee all county finances.
Furthermore, they are real estate developers with dozens of partnerships that stand to benefit from their inside positions.
And for the record, I do zero business with county government and will not do any business with the county should my son be elected mayor.

Zach Wamp's warning about possible future wrongdoing by son and father should Matt Hullander be elected county mayor -- while his father Bill continues to serve as county trustee -- shows how far Zach has fallen. (Would Zach have written his opinion without the approval of Weston? Doubtful.) Weston Wamp has essentially zero business experience, two failed tries for elected office, and some kind of involvement in a RINO (Republican In Name Only) political organization. The elder Wamp cashed in after service as our U.S. House representative, using his contacts and influence to become wealthy as a "businessman" of some kind.
Bill Hullander is a man of unquestioned skill who has performed as trustee with excellence, returning millions of dollars to county coffers -- keeping our taxes down. His Christian morals and ethics are beyond reproach. There is no history of fraud or wrongdoing in his long tenure of service, and he is regarded highly by his constituents. Need evidence? Look at his electoral history.
Matt Hullander is new to politics. He's never run for office before but is an accomplished businessman, having bought Hullco from his father before selling it after greatly expanding its value. He's a philanthropist who's raised nearly a million dollars through the Hullco Heritage and now the Hullander Family Foundations, contributing many thousands of his own dollars along the way. Unlike Weston, Matt already has experience in government. In full disclosure, Matt is a friend of mine. Wamp's slur against both Matt and his father are unfounded and beyond the pale. I know Matt's heart and intentions, and they are pure. Unlike both other candidates for county mayor, he has no aspiration for higher office and wants only to serve the community where his family has prospered for generations.
Matt Hullander has run a campaign on the issues. He has slung no mud. So I ask both Mr. Wamps: exactly why impugn Bill and Matt Hullander? Is the Weston Wamp campaign really that desperate?
