Libby Denise Tyree, 58, of Riceville, passed away Friday, May 13, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was a native of Alabama and longtime resident of McMinn County. She was a member of Christ Community Church of Athens, was a graduate of McMinn County High School and obtained her RN degree from Cleveland State Community College. She was a registered nurse at several area hospitals, surgery centers and the McMinn County School System.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Tyree.
She is survived by her husband, John McMichen; mother, Betty (Betsy) Dykes, of Athens; daughter, Shea (Shawn) Smith, of Riceville; grandchildren, Tyler King and Cadence King; step-daughter, Sarah McMichen, of Winchester, Va.; step-son, James McMichen, of Chattanooga; brother, Eric Tyree, of Athens; and nephews, James Tyree, of Athens and Bradley Tyree of Midlothian, Va.
A funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home. with Pastor Jeffrey Baggett and Dr. Carlos Peterson officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 19 at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur, Al. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Eric Tyree, James Tyree, Bradley Tyree, Tyler King, James McMichen and Shawn Smith.
