Around the Tennessee Valley and Chattanooga area, dirt tracks were in full swing Saturday night, providing action packed excitement. Lil' John Ownbey (#38) of Cleveland and Justin Winters got things started with victories in 602/Crate Late Model and the Sportsman divisions at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater.
At Mountain View Raceway in Dayton/Spring City, Chris Wilson of Crossville beat veteran racer Brandon Kinser of Kentucky for the Open Wheel Modified special. A stout field of 28 race teams took to the 1/4 mile track competing for the $1,500 prize.
In Dalton/Chatsworth at the North Georgia Speedway it was "Wildman" Spencer Singleton (#30) taking the Sportsman division feature. Colten Jackson won the Limited Late Model feature while Scott Hall of Rome won the Open Wheel Modified feature. Blake Craft and Tucker Anderson were also victorious in Late Model and Crate Late Model action.
Down in Northeast Alabama at Fort Payne Motor Speedway it was track champion D.J. Hayes (#393) victorious over Bama Brawl winner Chase Oliver in Super Late Model competition. Derek Franks of Tunnel Hill, Ga. won Sportsman. Kasey Hall of Geraldine won Crate Late Model and Shane Griffith won Open Wheel Modified.
Next Saturday the UCRA 604/Crate Late Model series hosts the "Tennessee Tussle" at Wartburg Speedway, north of I-40 up Hwy 27. The 40 lap event pays $2,500 to win with a total purse of $9,500.
