Westmore’s 2nd Annual Car Show is set to rev up on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Westmore Ministry Center, 2440 Legacy Pkwy. Hosting a wide selection of vehicles ranging from super cars akin to the McLaren Spider to stanced Honda Civics, car enthusiasts and gear-heads will be inspired by the turnout, said officials.
“We’re hosting Classics, Motorcycles, Muscle cars, Supercars and beyond this year,” said Mike Watkins, church administrator at Westmore. “We’ve really expanded our car show to be something for everyone this Father’s Day weekend.”
“I remember working on a ’68 Mustang with my friend and his dad,” said Derrick Urban, a local entrepreneur and coordinator for this year's event. “What started when I was 17 as an interest quickly became a lifelong passion. I love organizing these events for like-minded enthusiasts in the area and beyond.”
While the car show will sport a number of interesting vehicles, Mr. Urban noted the multitude of custom drift cars that will be showcased. “They’re a feat of engineering,” he said. “By working on these cars and making intentional adjustments, these men and women create a machine that glides across asphalt. They’re truly an impressive sight to take in!”
“I’m keeping my eyes out for a ’72 Chevelle SS,” said Kelvin Page, senior pastor at Westmore Church. “Muscle cars have always caught my eye. They’ve got power, but they also maintain their appeal with a style that is ageless.”
Westmore invites everyone to come hungry with a full menu available from the grill and sweet treats to cool off from the heat. A wide range of giveaways ranging from ratchet sets, Chemical Guys detailing kits, discounted services from local shops, and a grand prize of two tickets to NASCAR’s Cup Series Bass Pro Shops Night Race in Bristol will be up for grabs for anyone who registers at the tent and remains for the giveaways.
A wide selection of LifeGroups will be offered from Westmore following the event throughout the next several months including a Classic Cars LifeGroup meeting weekly at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays with Pastor Page. For more information, visit westmorelife.info.
