Barrack Obama chided John McCain and Hillary Clinton for supporting a federal gas tax suspension in 2008 calling it a gimmick. He also said, “It’s an idea to get them through an election.” (Politico, Ben Smith, Apr 29, 2008). This week Joe Biden asked Congress to suspend federal gas and diesel taxes.
In an informal interview during Biden’s second beach vacation this month, a reporter told him that experts say we are headed for recession. Joe snapped, “No-the majority of them aren’t saying that.” (NYPost, Steven Nelson, Jun 20, 2022). His daughter then tried to pull him away. (Daily Mail, N Schwab, Jun 20, 2022).
Joe’s not the only recession denier as others in his administration chant his mantra including Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen (AP, Aamer Madhani, Jun 20, 2022). These are the same folks who said inflation was “transitory.”
Do we really want a bunch of incompetent socialists wrecking US monetary policy for another two years? Don’t let them trick you into thinking a desperate gimmick to get through an election is a holiday.
