Joel Franklin Howard, born January 14, 1953, passed away Monday August 8, 2022.

Joel enjoyed a long career as a lighting director for opera and ballet.

As a graduate of UTC and Indiana University, Bloomington, he lived in Manhattan and worked at Lincoln Center in New York, The Deutsche Oper in Berlin, The International Arts Festival in San Antonio and Stage Lighting Distributors in Hollywood.

As a native of Chattanooga, he returned home after his final work managing the Loyola Marymount University Fine Arts Center in Los Angeles.

Son of Don and Mary Howard, he is survived by his two first cousins, Deborah Hildreth and Rhonda Kirtley, as well as many friends worldwide.
