Andreas Elias Tigiros
Andreas Elias Tigiros, 83, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022.
Andreas was born in Marathovounos, Cyprus, to the late Elias and Chrystalla Nicola Tigiros.
Andreas moved to the Unites States of America, on March 10, 1972, with just his family, and a hard work ethic to begin living the American dream. He began working for Don Wood Volkswagen, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, who had hired him one year prior to his move. In 1983, he opened Mountain Service Imports, which is still operated by his son Elias. Andreas was a Volkswagen factory trained certified mechanic. He was one of the first two mechanics to be trained by Volkswagen at the factory to work on water cooled engines. Andreas was a member of the Volkswagen Guild service, and a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. His hard work and dedication have paid off with a successful career and business. He loved spending time with his children, and grandson. He enjoyed cooking, eating, going to the beach, deep sea fishing, and the Tennessee Vols.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his devoted wife of more than 58 years, Ioanna Savvides Tigiros.
Surviving are his daughter, Eleni Tingirou; son and daughter-in-law, Elias and Sharon Tigiros; grandson, Andrew Tigiros; and sisters, Koula Efstathiou, and Andonia Andreou.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church with Father Stavros Ballas officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga Memorial Park.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Tony Zakkas, Tony Gianourakis, Demetrious Flengas, Tony Fink, Andrew Tigiros, and Phillip Hardy.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Aug. 21, from 3-6 p.m.
