Mark Steven Gilreath, loving son, brother, uncle, and friend, peacefully passed away at 47, on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

Mark Gilreath was born on Nov. 30, 1974, in Chattanooga, to Hugh and Betty Gilreath. He was a graduate of Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School. He continued his education receiving his Marketing degree from Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Ga. He went on to become an entrepreneur and own his own billiard company, named Gilreath Billiard Service.

He is leaving behind numerous great friendships that he developed throughout his journeys in life. Along with being a loyal friend, he was loyal to the New Orleans Saints, even if they happened to be “fumbling the bag”, as he would say. One of Mark’s greatest joys was personally witnessing the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves win their long-awaited championships in the same year. Whether it was beating everyone in trivia, watching a sports game with his friends, or eating a big dinner with the rest of his large family, he lived his life the way he wanted. Mark was someone who was unapologetically himself. He left this world incredibly happy with the life he lived and the friendships he made.

Mark is survived by his parents, Hugh and Betty, his two brothers, Michael and David, along with two nieces and a nephew, Michelle, Camille, and Michael, Jr.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe.

The visitation will be scheduled from 3-6 p.m., immediately followed by a funeral service in the chapel.
