Jacqueline Asberry
Jacqueline Asberry, 81, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, in a local health care facility.
She was born on Jan. 1, 1942, in Chattanooga, to Hazel Riley and Walter Kimbrough. She was a 1960 graduate of Howard High School. After high school, she attended Tuskegee University. Jacqueline was employed by Erlanger Hospital as a Unit Clerk/Secretary and retired after many years of service. She also was a School Patrol Guard. Jacqueline was formerly a member of Beulah Baptist Church and then later transitioned to New Covenant Fellowship Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Kinamore; father, Walter Kimbrough; sister, Twilight Kinamore; brother, Harold Dudley; and stepfather, Albert Kinamore.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Charlie Asberry; sons, Jeffrey Asberry, Wendell (Anna) Asberry, both of Chattanooga, Randell Asberry of Atlanta, GA, and Sean Asberry of Nashville, TN; stepdaughter, Karen Caldwell of Atlanta; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Albert (Bonnie) Kinamore and Kevelin (Vickie) Kinamore, both of Chattanooga; sisters, Darrene Watson of Chattanooga and Brenda Wright of Detroit, MI; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Jacqueline will lie in state on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Friday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m. at New Covenant Fellowship Church with Pastor Bernie Miller as the eulogist.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
