Debbie Hale
Debra Ann “Debbie” Hale, 68, of Chattanooga joined her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 16, 2023 after a brave battle with a brief illness.
She was fun and vivacious. She was a selfless caregiver, a wonderful mother, and the best DeDe to her grandchildren. Debbie celebrated life to the fullest and will be remembered for her generosity and loving spirit.
She was a member of Savannah Methodist Church. Debbie was a graduate of Ooltewah High School. She attended East Tennessee State University, earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and her master’s degree at Trevecca University. Debbie was a passionate educator for many years and touched the lives of generations of students. She taught at Meadowview Elementary, Mountain Oaks Elementary, Ooltewah Middle, East Ridge Elementary and Ooltewah High School. She was a gifted pianist and shared her musical talent by teaching others how to play piano. Debbie also wrote theater reviews for the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
Debbie was preceded in death by her first husband, John Blassingame and her father, Robert E. Anderson.
Survivors include her husband, Delbert W. Hale, Jr.; children, Ben (Amy) Blassingame, Jennifer (Travis) Patton, Mark (Brittany) Blassingame and Scott (Leslie) Hale; grandchildren, Miller Blassingame, Whitaker Blassingame, Thomas Patton, Mary Marlowe Hale and Laney Hale; mother, Lois Helen Anderson; sister, Vickie (Willie) Adams; one nephew, Colby Adams.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road.
The family will have a private graveside service.
