Darlene Cross

Darlene Baxter Cross, the beloved wife of Lynn Cross, peacefully passed away on November 18, 2023, at the age of 69.

She was born on June 16, 1954, in Cleveland, TN, to the late James Leamon Baxter and Velma Sue Cartwright.

She is preceded in death by her father James Leamon Baxter; stepfather Henry Edward Cartwright; brother Wilton Terry Baxter; stepbrothers James "Eddie" Young and Chris Cartwright.

Darlene was a woman of endless creativity and style. With a passion for cosmetology, she dedicated over four decades to her salon, Top Notch Hair Designs. She was highly respected in her field, working with the State of Tennessee and even holding a position as an officer of the Tennessee Hair Fashion Committee.

Outside of work, Darlene found joy in pursuing her hobbies. She had a green thumb and poured her heart into her garden, nurturing beautiful flowers and plants. Above all, she adored family vacations to the Outer Banks, creating lasting memories with those she loved.

Darlene is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, Lynn Cross, and her loving mother, Sue Cartwright. She will be remembered fondly by her children: Zachary Cross (Jessica), Patrick Cross (Adrian Gregorio), and Brandi Burns (Terry). Her memory will also live on through her cherished grandchildren: Bailey Burns, Houston Burns, Elijah Cross, Asher Cross, and Sofia Cross. She leaves behind her sister, Darlene Longley, sister-in-law, Wilma Cross, niece Carrie Cross, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A celebration of Darlene's life will be held at an intimate gathering of family.

In this time of immense sadness, let us remember the vibrant spirit, impeccable style, and unwavering love that Darlene brought into our lives. May her memory forever remain in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
