Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly joined Signal Centers Chief Executive Officer Donna McConnico and Tennessee Aquarium President and CEO Keith Sanford to dedicate this year’s official Christmas ornament of the city of Chattanooga.
The dedication took place in the River Journey Lobby of the Tennessee Aquarium and was attended by approximately 75 people. Festival holiday music played, remarks were made, and this year’s ornament was officially dedicated. Signal Centers’ Donna McConnico presented both Mayor Kelly and Mr. Sanford with a gift of the collectible stainless-steel ornament featuring its glass roof.
Inspired by local artist Darron DeSantis, who experienced homelessness after 14 years of stable employment, the ornament represents the power of art to bring healing and hope to those in need. It was created in partnership with Signal Centers’ Hart Gallery, an art therapy program and marketplace for artists who are experiencing homelessness, living with disabilities, fleeing abusive situations, or facing other barriers.
Ornaments are now available for purchase at the Tennessee Aquarium Gift Shop and the Hart Gallery at 110 E. Main St., with 100 percent of proceeds going to the Hart Gallery in support of future programming.
