Carolyn Jennings Baird Cofer
Carolyn Jennings Baird Cofer died peacefully at her home November 19, 2023. She was born on July 20, 1940, to the late Ellen and C.L. Jennings.
Carolyn possessed a heart of gold, an iron will, a keen sense of humor and a deep well of kindness and charity. While having natural wisdom, she received her education from Girl’s Preparatory School and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and Chattanooga. She loved her dogs, cats, horses, birds, books, champagne, travel and laughter. She was a fine fisherman, champion skeet shooter, beekeeper and a true fan of Tennessee Vols and Chicago Cubs. She was a dedicated member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church. A life well lived. Well done, our Carolyn.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Jim L. Baird and Retired Captain Joseph P. Cofer.
She is survived by Andrea Jennings Baird Wade (Roger Alan Wade), Shandy Wade Dixon (Richard), Jessica Wade Hollomon (Nick), Cheyenne Wade Rust (Adam), Bruce G. Baird (Faith), Lauren Baird Callegari, Hal Jeanes (Connie), William Jeanes (Susan), Joseph B. Cofer, MD (Juanita), T. Michael Cofer (Sherri), Carolyn Cofer Miller (Micky), Virginia Cofer (Julie) and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude for her wonderful caregivers, Deborah Cornett, Donna Diaz and Ronette Sloan.
A visitation will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, with a memorial service following at 2 p.m.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Chattanooga Food Bank, Guide Dogs for the Blind of San Rafael, California, Canine Champions for Independence of Santa Rosa, California or St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
