Larry Leonard Wade
Larry Leonard Wade, 70, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023, in a local hospital.
He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on February 28, 1953. Larry was the youngest of five children to George and Lyda B. Wade, Sr. He was a 1971 graduate of Brainerd High School where he was an outstanding football player. Larry was a faithful member of Washington Hills United Methodist Church. His favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys.
After high school, Larry took a job at Fehn’s restaurant. He was a talented cook. He enjoyed preparing food including special dishes for family and friends. Larry was later employed at Dupont doing landscaping in which he found pleasure and truly exhibited a gift in his work. He loved being around his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Lyda B. Wade; father, George Wade, Sr.; grandmother, Eva Freeman; grandfather, Fletcher Freeman; brothers, James Wade and Ponnie Wade; and aunt, Katie Qualls.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Sonja Wade; children, Patrick (Kim) Wells of Chattanooga, Lacye Desouza of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, Tracy (Laura) Wade of Rossville, GA, Kelly (Darryl) Gordon of Lee County, AL, and Jennifer Wade of Nashville, TN; stepson, Brandon Langford of Chattanooga; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, George Wade, Jr. of Chattanooga; sister, Lizzie Pearl Young of Orlando, FL; special cousins, Leon Qualls of San Diego, CA, Thomas Qualls of Chattanooga, Carolyn Loveless of Marietta, GA, Richard Qualls, Bernard Qualls, and Anthony Qualls, all of Chattanooga; special nephew, Ponnie Mastin; mother-in-law, Wilma Taylor of Ooltewah, TN, sisters-in-law, Tracey Taylor, Tia Taylor Clark, both of Chattanooga, and Kalaln Taylor Clark of Arlington, VA; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Washington Hills United Methodist Church with Pastor Terryl James as the eulogist. Burial is in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
