Charles Lawayne Day, Sr., 90, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023.

He was a resident of Chattanooga for 69 years where he worked as a railroad officer at Norfolk Southern Railroad for over 25 years. Charles was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was also a member of the Christian Family House Church.

Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Day; daughter, Teresa Day; and parents, Nicholas and Margaret Day.

Survivors include sister, Sandra Wheeler of Roswell, Ga.; son, Charles "Chuck" Day Jr. of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Krystal (Jon Mason) Channell of Quebeck, Tn., Ann (Duane) Apple of Carthage, Tn., Teresa Day of Tuskegee, Al., Tommy (Samantha) Crowder of Rossville, and Jimmy (Audrey) Crowder of Chatsworth, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Shelby (RJ) Strong, Sydney Ratledge, Bryce Channell, Xander Ratledge, Dillion Crowder, an Carson Crowder.

A visitation for Charles will be held on Wednesday, March 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services – Franklin-Strickland Chapel, 1724 Mccallie Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37404.
Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 1-2 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37404.
