Billy Ray Walker of Cleveland; formerly of Spring City, died on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at CHI Memorial Hospital in Hixson, Tennessee.

Billy Ray was born on May 23, 1934, in Rhea County to the late Chat and Elviria Smith Walker. He was a graduate of Spring City High School, “Class of 1952”. Billy Ray worked for General Motors in Daleville, Indiana for 42 years before retiring and moving back to Spring City in 1997. He was a member of the Wolf Creek Baptist Church. Billy Ray was also a member of the Rhea Spring Lodge #310 F. & A.M., the Alhambra Shrine Temple, the Scottish Rite in Knoxville and O.E.S. Chapter #110 in Indiana.

Billy Ray was also preceded in death by his wife Katherine Clack Walker, his son Keith Walker, sisters Ann Thurman and Lena Mae Owing and his brothers Arnold and Alfred Walker.

Survivors include his son Kelvin (Cheryl) Walker of Cleveland, Tennessee, his daughter Susan (Brian) Moller of Hixson, his sisters Bobbie (Denny) Patterson and Kathy Mason both of Dayton, his grandchildren Christopher Walker, Daniel Walker, Melissa Walker, Brittany Day and Baxter Hickman and his great grandchildren Jimmy Hickman, Molly Day and Jack Day, Chapman Walker, Knox Walker and Parker Walker.

Funeral services will be on Monday, March 27, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Rusty Revis and Rev. Paul Forgey officiating; masonic services will follow. Interment will be in the Glen Alice Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1-3 p.m. prior to services. Memorial contributions can be made to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes at tennesseechildren.org.
