Stacey Alexander: Let The Government Figure It Out

  • Friday, March 31, 2023

Is E.S.G. about to become a dirty acronym? After the SVB bank failure, I wouldn’t bet against it. The bank’s quick demise is stunning. And to read all the ESG initiatives taken by the CEO before the collapse … one had to be left thinking about who was there minding the numbers.

If there’s one thing that will bring down the ESG cult fast, it is their leader's growing potential of joining the homeless movement. This is getting into the wallets of many well-to-do elite liberals. Stocks are tumbling, as they did in 2008, making incontinence a national health crisis.

ESG’s virtue-signaling initiatives are brilliantly designed for the gullible. So … if you love the planet, you gotta love people, and it all fits seamlessly with big government. Yes, it’s a stretch. I guess it’s a tidy little package that works for most, and it all goes together like sweet apple pie. They have to fight against the gazillions of people who love pollution, hate women and children, hate polar bears, hate gays, hate clean water, and who are, well, frankly, mean and rude. (FYI: I have found quite a few mean and rude people — but I can’t find many of the others).

So if you love the planet, love solar cells, love wind turbines on mountains and in the ocean, (excluding near your home) hate fossil fuels, hate golf, believe everything on CNN, and recycle, then you must love the government. Because the government is so sweet and nice. Never question your government. They always have your back.

The government plans things that everyone can get behind. The goal is to achieve something and collectively lift the spirits of the people. If successful, it sure helps the incumbents get reelected. But how are we going to win this global warming fight? I believe they stepped a little too far in it. I think it was designed to keep everyone frightened. That would be considered cruel to most. They want you to let the government figure it all out. Take control. But there’s a hitch — there is no end game. If we can’t stop this, then one party will dominate with its motto “We Will Save the World.”

The bank failure in Napa Valley, Ca., in the heart of a big tech country, is interesting. But the stories coming out of this area are just downright heart-wrenching. I exchanged words with a lady online that had 1,000 shares of SVB in a trust that her grandfather gave her. It was worth close to half a million a week before the crash. It’s all gone. Zilch. I doubt if she will be involved in the ESG (Environment, Social & Governance) movement at the homeless encampment downtown, where she may be living soon.

Some of these stock analysts are brilliant. Jim Cramer on CNBC was touting SVB as a buy just days before the crash. These financial houses are filled with best-of-breed, genius ivy leaguers I’m told, and their places of employment — the storied halls of Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley - are held up as golden temples of capitalism. If Cramer keeps his job after this I might as well burn the neighborhood down and run for fire chief.

Goldman Sachs Maintains Buy on SIVB raises price target to $312 (6 days before the crash)

Wells Fargo Maintains Overweight on SIVB, Raises Price Target to $350 (22 days before the crash)

Raymond James Maintains Outperform on SIVB, Raises Price Target to $375 (34 days before the crash)

Truist Securities Maintains Buy on $SIB, Raises Price Target to $269 (45 days before the crash)

Maxim Group Maintains Buy on $SIVB, Lowers Price Target to $500 (45 days before the crash)

You wouldn't think these outfits would mislead investors to save their assets? Oh no, they wouldn't do that. They are just smarter than we are. They move quicker than we do. And their failings are invisible to the press until all heck breaks out into a circular firing squad. These are the special World Forum bigwigs. They have us in the best trade deals with China. They love ESG rules that kill our economy, which helps China destroy our markets. Do you think China is not promoting our rules enthusiastically? You bet. Do you think China will follow through on its E.S.G. commitments? They dazzle our state officials while skateboarding around critical obstacles. I haven’t seen manipulation like this since my girlfriend got a boob job.

Janet Yellen does not inspire confidence. Not even at a Girl Scout cookie stand does she inspire confidence. This country is becoming the laughingstock of the world. Her speeches contain more words about equality, racial income disparity, and gay rights than a Susan Sarandon speech at an awards ceremony. Yellen needs to stick to our national financial condition.

What can we do to put the pieces back together? What’s it gonna take? One good un-tongue-tied speech from Biden? Don’t expect a Winston Churchill moment from Kamala Harris to inspire us to greatness. But she’d do great at a squawking contest for the advancement of social influencers.

Many years ago, around 1980, things were rough. Like they are now. But we weren’t as divided then — society still had its can-do spirit. Those days were cool. Richard Pryor cracking jokes at everybody. Things were fairly peaceful, I mean there was a little rage between the disco dancers and the heavy-metal crowd. But there was confidence that someone would come along and lead us out of the malaise. And that happened. We didn’t have this constant circus from all facets of life over social injustice. The media wasn’t constantly pushing its racist theories. If we could just turn back the clock. How did we get here? Who you choose to listen to is important. Around this same time, the green crowd was spouting off about how we’d be out of crude by 2000. The last I checked we still have plenty.

Senator John Kennedy said, “We must quit bailing out the people at the top, and at the bottom, and squeezing the middle.”

Elon Musk says we need fossil fuels for much longer. I heard that he owns an electric car company, and an aerospace company, and now he’s into social media. I know how he’s made his money. But I don’t know how Biden got so rich. Who is the smarter person? Who’s the person with more character? Who earned it? And who do you believe? When he exposed the FBI and the Biden administration over the Twitter files the White House became enraged. Now they’ve got their eyes on him hard. He must feel like a stripper on dollar drink night.

The Republicans just introduced an anti-E.S.G. bill. A bill that is trying to get corporate America’s eyes back on profits. That will not be easy. I can’t believe I’m even saying that.

We always had problems back in the day. But those problems were fixable. Today’s problems are manufactured. They are designed to keep you second-guessing yourself: ‘We can help you with that guilt. We’ll tell you what to do so you can relieve yourself of all that anxiety. Believe in us.’

Are you guilty?
