Ralph Watson
Ralph Ed Watson, 93, or Ed as he was affectionately known passed away on March 30, 2023.
He was born to the late James Harvey and Mary Ellen Watson in Madisonville, TN., on August 18, 1929. They moved to Bledsoe County when he was 12 years old. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1954.
He married Emma J. Wilson in 1955 and they moved to Chicago, IL., where he worked for HotPointe for 11 years. He and Emma relocated to East Ridge in 1967. He received a certification from Chattanooga State in HVAC and then went on to work as a repairman for Service Inc., Melvin Stakely and the Lomenacque Apartments. Ed and Emma were members of Calvary Memorial Baptist Church. Ed was an avid reader of the Bible and read it everyday.
He was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents, eight sisters, Esta; Lois; Ocie; Ersie; Ethelene; Evelyn; Peggy; and Bobbie Watson, three brothers, Kenneth; James; and R.C. Watson.
Left behind to cherish Ed’s memory are his wife of 67 years, Emma Watson, his two daughters, Becky (Anthony) Fioreno and Amy (Ron) O’ Bryant, 3 grandchildren, Lacey (Matt) Bennett, Whitney (Zack) Gant, and David O’ Bryant, and one great-grandson, Lucas Henry Bennett.
A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Monday April 3, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Eric Greeson officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5-8 p.m. He will be laid to rest with military honors in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
