Chattanooga Elks Lodge Exalted Ruler David Thompson, Sr. presents JROTC AWARD to Cadet Private Anika Perry, JROTC Cadet at Central High School. This is the first ever presented JROTC Award by Chattanooga Elks Lodge promoting and encouraging outstanding youth leadership in our community.
Chattanooga Elks Lodge presented the first JROTC Award to Cadet Private Anika Perry of the JROTC at Central High School. This award program is part of the Grand Lodge activities to promote and recognize America’s outstanding youth in our communities by “Honoring the Past-Embracing the Future and truly demonstrate that “Elks Care-Elks Share.”
Exalted Ruler/President of the Chattanooga Elks Lodge David Thompson said, “We are very proud to present this award from the Chattanooga Elks Lodge to local JROTC cadets for outstanding accomplishments. This is the first JROTC Award ever presented in the Chattanooga area. Cadet Private Perry is a dedicated future leader in our community.”
To receive this award from any Elks Lodge the JROTC cadets must accomplish the following criteria:
· A current academic GPA of 2.75 (B-),
· Has developed as a leader in the JROTC program,
· Is of high moral character and encourages other cadets/students to do the same,
· Has a record without disciplinary action by the school system and disciplinary action inside the JROTC system should be at a minimum, qualified by the Senior Area Instructor,
· Has participated in community service projects, and
· Has maintained high standards of performance in all fields of endeavor.
According to Major David Spencer, JROTC Director at Central High School, Cadet Private Anika Perry meets and exceeds all the criteria for this award and is an example of an outstanding cadet and future leader in our community.
The JROTC Awards program was first introduced at the 2018 Grand Lodge Convention as a new program to give local Lodges the opportunity to recognize our future leaders by focusing the public’s attention on outstanding cadets from their communities.
Chattanooga Elks Lodge #91 is one of the oldest Elks Lodges in the state of Tennessee.
