Lady Justice ruled to uphold contractual law of the state of Tennessee on the right side of attorney Rheubin Taylor.
Of course, the court ruled to uphold this contract, as the County Commission voted to approve the contract many years ago. A contract is a contract. This ruling will hold up to any appeal filed if the mayor wishes to chase his tail with our property tax dollars. It is all fun with tax dollars, right?
While the employment contract of attorney Rheubin Taylor has been upheld, it does not address the Wamps’ publicly dragging a professional, career employee through the mud repeatedly. The most offensive aspect of attacking attorney Taylor, both personally and professionally, was leveraging the color and power of their elected offices to harm an employee’s reputation. There was no public or governmental benefit in using elected office, just emotional out pouring to harm attorney Taylor.
The District Attorney of Hamilton County, Coty Wamp, posted the following online verbatim, “Rheubin Taylor is a terrible and unethical county attorney who has sucked the teat of government for far too long.”
This was online for about half a day. I found the district attorney’s choice of words interesting considering the fact she was raised on government checks for 16 years followed by multiple jobs funded by the “teat of government.” We can laugh at her words and say she was spouting off, but the truth is Wamp’s words originated from the color of public office.
I cannot begin to discuss the ethical and legal implications of this statement.
No one has used the color of elected office to harm the professional reputation of attorney Taylor more than Mayor Wamp. The endless attacks on attorney Taylor’s professional ability and character have been published over and over. Initially, attorney Taylor was terminated citing his age. Clearly, these newly elected folks need management training.
The contract ruling is an expected outcome because a contract is a contract, and the County Commission sealed the contract with a vote of record. The public display of Wamp’s damaging Attorney Taylor professionally has not been addressed in an appropriate venue. They should be held accountable for using color and power of public elected office to harm the reputation of attorney Taylor.
There was absolutely no government benefit to damaging a professional, career employee. It is clear as day, the color of elected offices was leveraged for personal and professional harm to a contracted employee.
