The Chattanooga Lookouts won their thrid game of a six game series at Rocket City Thursday night. Non only did they won, they won in historic fashion scoring 29 runs.
The Lookouts had 19 walks and 18 hits They scored eight runs in the first and seven in the second to earn an early 15-0 lead. Andy Yerzy's grand slam broke a Southern League record for runs scored in a game. Yerzy homered twice and was 4-for-5 with two walks, four runs scored and nine RBIs. Blake Dunn also hit a grand slam in the 1st inning, and finished with six RBIs. Quincy McAfee walked four times and scored five runs. Nick Northcut had three hits, three runs and three batted in.
All nine Lookouts scored mutliple runs.
In the ninth, the Lookouts made history by adding six runs to their total, capping the scoring on Yerzy’s second home run of the game, a grand slam to make it 29-3. The 29 runs scored by Chattanooga set a new Southern League record for runs in a game. The previous record was 26, set by the Trash Pandas at Chattanooga on August 8, 2021.
The Trash Pandas (35-42, 4-4 second half) and Lookouts (43-34, 5-4 second half) continue the series on Friday night.
