SAR Elementary School Poster Contest Opens

  • Monday, August 7, 2023
The John Sevier Chapter of the Tennessee Society Sons of the American Revolution announces the opening of the annual SAR Elementary School Poster Contest for school year 2023-2024.  The Theme this school year is a Revolutionary War Event (events from 1764 to 1783 are included in the period).

All third, fourth and fifth grade students interested in the American Revolution are invited to participate in the SAR’s Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest. The contest is open to public and private schools, parochial, home schooled, Scouting, or Children of the American Revolution member students in that same grade range.
Young artists with an enthusiasm toward art, a love of American history or a passion in creative expression can submit their posters to their local SAR chapter for competition (John Sevier Chapter of the TNSSAR is the supporting chapter for students living in Bledsoe, Hamilton, Marion and Sequatchie Counties).

The poster contest begins at the local level, with student masterpieces being judged and prizes awarded prior to moving on to the state and national levels.  The John Sevier Chapter awards prizes of first place, $65; second place, $40; third place, $25; and fourth to 10th place, $10.

Students, parents and/or teachers interested in participating in the poster contest can contact the John Sevier Chapter at johnsevierchapter@tnssar.org for further contest information and guidelines, or visit the contest page at https://www.tnssar.org/elementary-school-poster-contest.html.
