The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) announce a Flood Risk Public Open House to discuss updates to the Middle Tennessee-Chickamauga Watershed Flood Insurance Rate Maps and Flood Insurance Study will be held this Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Development Resource Center, 1250 Market St., Room 1A, in Chattanooga. Free parking is available in the lot behind the building for the convenience of attendees.
"This informative event provides an opportunity for residents to learn more about the study and discover if the identified flood risk has changed at their properties," organizers said.
At the Flood Risk Public Open House, community officials, along with representatives from FEMA, TEMA, the City of Chattanooga, U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers and insurance professionals will be available to address questions and concerns regarding flood risk changes and the proposed new flood maps. The format of this event is informal, with no presentations or formal questions/statements from the public.
"This open house presents an excellent opportunity for the public to engage directly with experts
and gain insights into flood risk assessment and mitigation strategies," officials said.
