Raymond Max Montgomery, 83, of Hixson went home to be with the Lord on September 18, 2023.

Max was born in Dayton, Tn., on Sept. 4, 1940, to the late Roscoe Montgomery and Wilma Montgomery. Max graduated from Rhea Central High School and went on to have a career as a maintenance technician with Combustion/ABB that spanned 38 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Faye Montgomery, his aforementioned parents, and a brother, Doyle Montgomery.

Left behind to cherish Max’s memory are his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Edwina Montgomery, three granddaughters, Natalie Blackwell, Nicole (Chad) Castleberry, and Mary (Corey) Wright, six great-grandchildren, sister, Sandy Colbaugh, half-brothers, Tommy and Eddie Montgomery, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Max’s Life will be held graveside in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens on Friday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 9 a.m. He will be laid to rest in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens alongside his wife.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Max’s memory can be made to your favorite charity.
