Marlin Stephen “Tootie” Lund
Marlin Stephen “Tootie” Lund, 93, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Erlanger Hospital.
Marlin was born on Aug. 1, 1930, to the late Pearle Elizabeth Jackson Lund and Axel Stefaunes Lund.
Marlin spent 49 years working in the auto-parts industry with the last 30 years of his career at Champion Auto Parts in Dalton. Marlin was a beloved man who always cared for those around him and helped anyone in need, even without them having to ask. He found enjoyment in classic car shows, customizing and repairing Volkswagens, riding motorcycles, and playing games like dominos or cards. Leading up to his last days, he was still mowing his yard, driving, working on tractors, cars, lawnmowers, small engines, and was almost always his own repairman. Despite decades of fighting major physical ailments, he endured all things with immeasurable strength, kindness, grit, and perseverance. Marlin saw himself as a “jack-of-all-trades” and always innovated to fix anything large or small with the resources he could find nearby. God truly gained a servant of His people and Marlin will continue to be admired far beyond the years he spent here on Earth.
Marlin is survived by special cousins and caregivers, Linda Jackson Potts and Jonathan (Ashley) Potts; additional cousins, Vivian Jackson, Connie (Al) Lane, Marianna (Greg) Weldon, Larry (Karen) Bowman, Cecelia (Tim) Stuart, Guy Jackson, Nancy Hackworth, Marla Miles, Yvette (Anthony) Cochran, and Donna Grow. Special thanks go to Flossie Ball, Buddy Cochran, Eddress Brown, and Eliu Gonzalez Jr. (Junior) for their immeasurable help over the years.
Funeral services for Marlin Lund will be held on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday.
