Cindy Dearing, Chickamauga Chapter chair of the DAR Community Classroom Committee recently presented a framed copy of the official Tennessee State Poem, “Oh Tennessee, My Tennessee” to Ms. Amany Shourbaji, principal of Annoor Academy, one of 27 local schools which are supported by Chickamauga Chapter.

The Tennessee Society Daughters of the American Revolution are commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the poem, written by Admiral William Porter Lawrence while he was held during a 60-day period of solitary confinement in the infamous Hanoi Hilton prison during the Vietnam War.

Mrs. Dearing also serves as vice chairman of the Tennessee Society DAR Community Classroom Committee.
