The City of Chattanooga has proclaimed Jan. 20-27 Color Chattanooga Pink! week.

During a ceremony at a local Wendy’s restaurant, Dr. Geeta Maharaj, City of Chattanooga Deputy Director of the Office of Community Health, read a proclamation from Mayor Tim Kelly and, along with Pink! gala and Color Chattanooga Pink! co-chairs, encouraged everyone to be creative and show support for the MaryEllen Locher Breast Center.

"Everyone is encouraged to join the fun," organizers said. "Businesses can light their buildings pink or choose a day and encourage employees to wear pink.
Retailers can display pink merchandise. Restaurants will serve pink drinks. However you choose to help Color Chattanooga Pink!, make sure to post a picture or video to the Pink! Facebook (@Pinkgala) and Instagram (@pinkgalachatt) pages and use #colorchattanoogapink or #PINKnooga."

As the Color Chattanooga Pink! sponsor, eight area Wendy’s restaurants will host the CHI Memorial mobile mammography coaches, which provide screening mammograms.

To schedule an appointment at one of these locations, call 423-495-4040. Walk-ons are also available. The MaryEllen Locher Breast Center has grant funds to help cover the cost of the screening mammogram for qualifying women who are uninsured or under-insured.
