Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians will honor Dr. Rebecca Ashford, president of Chattanooga State Community College, at the annual Trefoil Society Luncheon, which recognizes women who exemplify the spirit of Girl Scouting.

The luncheon will be held at the Waterhouse Pavilion at 850 Market St. on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $75 and available for purchase at TrefoilSociety.org. Proceeds support Girl Scouts in the Tennessee Valley and North Georgia region.

“We are excited to honor Dr.
Rebecca Ashford, a role model who demonstrates how much young women can achieve,” said Lynne Fugate, CEO of the Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians. “Dr. Ashford is a great example of a leader in the community who inspires future generations, the embodiment of what Girl Scouting represents.”

Dr. Ashford has served as president of Chattanooga State Community College since 2017. She was named a Greater Chattanooga Woman of Distinction in 2022. Dr. Ashford is a member of the Chattanooga Area Chamber board of directors and the executive committee, and serves on a number of other boards, including The Enterprise Center, Southeast Development District, Austin Hatcher Foundation and the River City Company.

The Trefoil Society Luncheon is named after the trefoil-shaped pin that Girl Scouts receive to symbolize the acceptance of ethical leadership values. The events are held in the fall in the three regions of Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians to pay tribute to a distinguished woman who has exemplified herself as a leader in her community and who upholds the traditions and embodiment of the Girl Scout Law.

Sponsors for the Trefoil Society Luncheon include First Horizon, Erlanger and River City Company. Other companies or individuals wishing to honor Dr. Ashford with a sponsorship should email development@girlscoutcsa.org or call Alicia White Price at 865-244-4188. All donation checks should be sent to Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians, Attn: Development, 1567 Downtown West Blvd., Knoxville, Tn. 37919.
