Arlon Cushen, 87, of Fort Oglethorpe, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born to the late W.A. and Janie Cushen, Arlon was a dedicated family man, friend, and community member who touched the lives of many.

Arlon devoted over 30 years of his career to Textile Rubber, where he built lasting friendships and a respected reputation. A man of faith, he was a long-time member of Battlefield Parkway Church of the Nazarene, where he found joy and fellowship.

A true outdoorsman, Arlon loved spending his time on the water, boating, and fishing. His love for life was matched only by his loyalty to the University of Alabama—his passion for Crimson Tide football was known by all who loved him. “Roll Tide,” he would proudly say. Arlon was also a member of the Red Fez Club and a 32nd Degree Shriner, contributing to his community in many meaningful ways.

In addition to his parents, Arlon was preceded in death by his siblings: Marvin Cushen, Harvie Cushen, Garvin Cushen, Ovell Waddell, Lethel Cowart, Luven Cushen, Viona Whitmore and Euthema Buckles

Arlon leaves behind his cherished wife, Bonnie Cushen, as well as her children, Shannon (Ian) Bateman and Russ (Jessica) Rowland; his beloved twin brother, Arvel Cushen; stepchildren, Glenda (Bobby) Boyd and Lee Stringfield. He will be greatly missed by several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends who remember him with fondness.

The family will receive friends at Battlefield Parkway Church of the Nazarene on Monday, November 25th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service, officiated by Reverend Joe Brown, will follow at 12:00 PM. Arlon will be laid to rest at Forest Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post #214 or Battlefield Parkway Church of the Nazarene.

Arrangements are by Wann Funeral & Cremation Center, at the foot of historic Lookout Mountain, St. Elmo (423) 821-7551
