The Food City in Harrison celebrated its grand re-opening on Wednesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony

Company officials hosted ribbon cutting ceremonies Wednesday morning for the newly expanded/remodeled Food City in Harrison. The grand re-opening celebration, which also began Wednesday morning, included special pricing on select items throughout the store.

“Our customers will find the same smiling faces, top quality products, exceptional customer service and competitive pricing they have come to expect from Food City, along with some exciting new services and conveniences,” says Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer.

Over 8,200 square feet of retail space has been added to the store, bringing the total square footage to 56,000+ square feet and creating 40 new area jobs. The expansion includes the addition of a Starbucks café, offering a wide assortment of blended hot and cold coffees and beverages and an assortment of breakfast sandwiches and pastries.

The meat, seafood, produce, grocery, dairy, frozen food, and beer/wine departments have been expanded to make way for added variety/selection. The food service department has been enlarged to incorporate new services, including a fresh food bar featuring a variety of soup, salad and fruit selections, Asian Wok, hickory wood smoker, brick oven pizza, fresh sushi, instore made popcorn, specialty cake shop, and a large café seating area. The floral department has also been expanded and a drive-thru has been added to the Food City Pharmacy.

“I would like to thank our loyal customers for their understanding and patience during the construction process,” says store manager, Matt Day. “I think our customers will agree that these exciting new services were well worth the wait.”
