Plan Hamilton Review Deferred To Ensure Comprehensive Evaluation

  • Thursday, December 5, 2024

The Hamilton County Mayor’s Office, in collaboration with the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency, announced the deferral of the draft Plan Hamilton presentation for 30 days. The decision was made at the request of Planning Commission Chairman Ethan Collier to allow additional time for review and public input on the comprehensive planning documents.

The review, originally scheduled for the Dec. 9 Planning Commission meeting, will now take
place during the regularly scheduled Planning Commission meeting on Jan. 13.

In March 2023, Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp introduced Plan Hamilton, the county’s first-ever comprehensive growth strategy designed to shape the future of its unincorporated areas. This initiative represents more than 20 months of collaborative work including public meetings, surveys, and extensive data and mapping efforts. The deferral ensures thorough consideration by the Planning Commission and an opportunity to incorporate additional community feedback.

Plan Hamilton documents remain accessible to the public at planhamilton.org, and community members are encouraged to review and provide input to the RPA at RPA@chattanooga.gov or email the County Mayor’s office here.
