Fred Merlin Pettit, Jr., 87, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024. Born in Delaware, Oh., he was a former employee of Bundy Enterprises, attended Jones Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the Alhambra Shrine Provost.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley A. Pettit; parents, Fred Merlin Pettit, Sr., and Mable Long Pettit; and sister, Patricia Harvey.

Fred is survived by his wife, Helen Parker Pettit; son, Fred M. (Angela) Pettit, III; two daughters, Kathy (Don) Cagle and Karen Williams; sister, Doris (Tom) Houghton; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13 in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Bill Harvey and Teena Broom officiating. Entombment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Shriner’s.
