Frances Wilkins Motsinger
Frances Wilkins Motsinger, 96, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024.
Born and raised in Logan County, Ky., she was a graduate of Olmstead High School, in Olmstead, Ky., and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Russellville, Ky. Frances and her husband Bob married on April 6, 1946. After retirement, Bob and Frances started a new business, Motsinger Antiques. They operated out of their home, and for the next 20 years, they enjoyed meeting many new friends while traveling with their business. After moving to Chattanooga in 2005, she and Bob attended Woodland Park Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 76 years Bobbie Reid Motsinger; parents, Samuel Monroe Wilkins and Alma Lee Dew Wilkins; son, Michael Reid Motsinger; sister, Pauline Wilkins Stuart; two brothers, Buis Monroe Wilkins and James Edward Wilkins; granddaughter, Bree Michele Motsinger (Kevin) Kirby; one niece and two nephews.
Frances is survived by two children, Sandra Motsinger (Bill) Thurmond of Chattanooga, and William Lynn Motsinger of Hot Springs Village, Ak.; seven grandchildren, Laura Thurmond (Brad) Hinchman, Robert Shelton Thurmond, Karen Motsinger (Chip) Carter, Michael Motsinger, Emily Motsinger (John) Sissney; Beth Motsinger (Brody) Lyons and Mark William Motsinger; 20 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff (Alana, Misty and Debbie) at Amedisys Hospice for their wonderful care for the last 2 years and caregivers (Kristy, Melissa and Priscilla) for the exceptional care she was given for the last several years. In lieu of flowers the family will request donations be made to Amedisys Hospice.
