Ronald Talmadge Stansell, 75, of Ooltewah, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 26, 2024.

Ron was born in Birmingham, but moved to Chattanooga at a young age, graduating from Brainerd High School and MTSU. He was a longtime member of Ooltewah United Methodist Church and retired after 52 years with New York Life and NYLIFE Securities as a financial advisor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Aileen Stansell.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Ruth Stansell; son, Jud Stansell; daughter, Kara (Phil) Nugent; grandsons, Maxwell Stansell and Evan Wayne Stansell; brother, Ken (Pam) Stansell; and several nieces and nephews.

Ron’s life revolved around family, friends and laughter. (Always time for a Rook game and every day’s schedule depended on “what time is the game?”) He had a good life and was supported and blessed through his church life, his career choice, long time sport memories, and the many good people these brought into his life. The family thanks you if you ever made him smile.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, March 1, at the funeral home and again on Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at the church.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, at Ooltewah United Methodist Church, 6131 Relocation Way, Ooltewah, Tn. 37363, with Rev. Micah Nicolaus officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ooltewah United Methodist Church or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist. 7414 Old Lee Highway, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
