Proprietor Rachel Shahen announces Chattanooga Salt Cavern will open on Saturday at 3800 St. Elmo Ave., near the Incline Railway at the foot of Lookout Mountain.
Officials said, "Guests coming to Chattanooga Salt Cavern will enter a spa-like salt room for sessions to breathe in microscopic salt particles that are proven to improve breathing. The company will provide 45-minute sessions where individuals will relax as the effects of halotherapy ease challenges for lung health.
"Dry salt acts as a sponge in attracting substances as it moves through the respiratory tract, cleansing the respiratory system.
In addition to addressing respiratory issues such as allergies and asthma, the micro-particles provide cosmetic effects on the skin. The salt aids the pH balance of skin and improves microcirculations. Acne, eczema, psoriasis and other skin conditions can benefit from the dry salt process. Many athletic teams are also taking advantage of the treatment as a way to build lung stamina throughout the busy sports season."
Ms. Shahen notes that the therapy is beneficial to locals and visitors alike. “Anyone spending time in Chattanooga past a day or two can experience breathing issues brought on by area allergies. For some, the challenge is seasonal; for others, it lasts throughout the year. Our offerings are designed specifically to promote lung health and we’re already partnering with entities throughout the area to provide our services to the patients and customers they serve.”
Chattanooga Salt Cavern is open to the public Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
