CARTA Needs Funding

  • Wednesday, May 22, 2024

I favor Mayor Tim Kelly’s and his administration’s plan to use $16.9 million to accelerate capital projects. However, in perusing the story about this, I didn’t see any mention of sorely needed funding for CARTA.

The new administrator of the transportation provider has said from the get-go that additional funding is needed to modernize technology and other capital needs to make routes more efficient and safely serve more community members who depend on their services. We all can’t afford an automobile but still must see doctors, get groceries, etc.

Therefore, I implore the Kelly Administration to include funding for CARTA among the myriad projects they have on their list.
