Deanna Yvonne Turner Howard
Deanna Yvonne Turner Howard, 84, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024.
She was born at the Women’s Hospital in Chattanooga, Tn., Dec. 22, 1939 to B.F. and Palma Biggs Turner.
Deanna was a longtime resident of Ooltewah and Knoxville. She held a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Master’s Degree in Adult Education, graduating from the University of Tennessee. In early years, Ms. Howard worked as an elementary school teacher at Ooltewah Elementary School. She was also a social worker, bookstore manager, non-credit program coordinator at The University of Tennessee, assistant dean and director at Trident Technical College in Charleston, South Carolina and adult education director at Calhoun Community College in Alabama.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church Bearden in Knoxville and also held membership with the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Some of Deanna’s favorite things were country music, Elvis, reading, traveling, and dancing. Deanna played the piano and had a wonderful voice. Also, her love for UT sports was only matched by her love for her three sons.
In addition to her parents, B.F. and Palma Biggs Turner, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Howard; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Howard.
Survivors are her three sons, Brad (Robbie) Howard, Spring Hill, Tn.; Bart (Janna) Howard, and Casey (Deb) Howard, both of Knoxville, Tn.; four grandchildren, Brittany Wagner, Brooke Howard, Abbey Howard, and Reid Howard; and three great-grandchildren, Wesley and Luka Wagner, and Westley Ryan.
A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, July 7, at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 6, from 4-7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
