Sam Hugh Harlin, Jr., 84, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024.

Sam was born in Madison, Tn., on Oct. 8, 1939. He attended Tennessee Tech University and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Athens State University in 1965. He retired as CIO from Covenant Transport. He was a member of Ooltewah Church of Christ.

Sam was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Williamson Harlin, and his parents, Sam H. and Alyne Gill Harlin.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Tate Harlin; sister, Pat Boyle of Nashville; two sons, Stephen (Deborah) Gregg of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Stuart (Paige) Andrew of Chattanooga; daughter, Dana (Tom) Burleson of Auburn, Ga.; two step-sons, Timothy Owings and Jeffrey (Lori) Owings; ten grandchildren; two great grandsons; and three great granddaughters.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 12, at the Ooltewah Church of Christ with Minister Denny Howell and Minister David Gilbert officiating. The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. on Friday at the church.
