The Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Oneida will break ground on a new Diesel Technology, Lineman Training, and Truck Driving education facility on Monday, at 11:30 a.m. Tinker Ma and FTM, the design and construction team, will join in celebration at the event.
TCAT is a leader in technical education and industry training, and the event kicks off an exciting phase of expansion that is part of a broader initiative and the largest investment in industry training and technical education in state history. This initiative funds TCAT campuses statewide and seeks to make education available to 10,000 more Tennesseans yearly.
TCAT Oneida’s new facility is expected to be completed in the summer of 2025 and will provide a physical hub to expand diesel technology, lineman training, and truck driving programs. It will create spaces for students to gain practical experience as well as simulation training and classroom instruction.
“TCAT is an incredible avenue for the personal, vocational, and financial success of people in the region,” said Tinker Ma architect Lauren Dunn, AIA, NCARB. “Their administrators and educators are so proud of their students and care deeply about their role in the community. It has been an honor to partner with them as they provide pathways to success.”
The design focuses on occupant comfort and energy efficiency that will save TCAT Oneida substantial energy costs over the life of the building. The facility will feature large pull-in and pull- through truck bays, outfitted with current industry-standard equipment and systems, and will offer generous, luminous, and highly functional spaces to service the trucks.
Croy Engineering is providing civil engineering services. CMTA is providing MEP/FP, and Wallace Design Collective is serving as the structural engineer. The project is currently on budget and on schedule.
