Several downtown streets will be closing on Saturday night in downtown Dalton to make way for Sunday morning's Dalton Grand Prix bicycle race.
Vehicles should not be left parked in the affected area Saturday night. Signs will be posted as a reminder and the closed roads will be barricaded, but motorists should plan to avoid the area.
The course for Sunday morning's race will take cyclists in a loop of King Street, Pentz Street, Gordon Street and Selvidge Street. Those roadways will be closed near the course, as will Crawford Street.
The roads will close Saturday night at 8 p.m.
to make way for course set up and to allow police time to clear out any cars left parked in the area. The race is set to begin at 8 a.m. and roads will remain closed until approximately 3 p.m.
Because the race is a time trial, there will constantly be riders on the course and unlike road closures for foot races, it will not be possible for cars to cross the course.
